North Carolina's Harnett County was founded in 1855 from part of Cumberland County.    The county seat is in Lillington, but the major city is Dunn. 

Harnett County has previously been rustic, with the chief occupation being farming.  As people relocated to the region, Harnett County has become a significant area to Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base.  When looking for north of post housing, soldiers from Fort Bragg look at Harnett County real estate.
